Cidade de Pedra formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1990, with brothers Rodrigo and Ramiro Martins on guitar, vocalist André Jung, bassist Cláudio Heinzmann, and drummer Luciano Ferreira. Their debut album 'Sob o Olhar da Madrugada' came out in 1994 and included the track 'Marijuana,' which drew some attention for its content.
The band broke up in 1998, with Jung going solo and the others forming Demônios da Garoa. They reunited in 2012 for shows and released a single called 'Tempo Perdido.'
