Cidade Verde Sounds System

Cidade Verde Sounds System formed in Belém, Brazil in the early 2000s, with Deize Tigrona, Guizado, and Luciano as founding members. They started by mixing reggae and dub with Brazilian rhythms, creating a sound that felt specific to their coastal city rather than trying to fit into existing scenes.

Their 2007 debut album 'Red Eyes' gave them their first real attention. The title track became something people talked about, with its direct lyrics about marginalized communities. Other songs like 'Tá Difícil Esquecer' and 'Real Ganjaman' showed their range within that reggae-dub foundation.

They kept releasing albums through the next decade, including 'Nação Zumbi' in 2009 and 'Revolução do Povo' in 2011. The collective worked with other artists occasionally, but their core sound remained grounded in those early Belém sessions where they first put reggae rhythms alongside Brazilian elements.
