Cinemacinco

Cinemacinco formed in Puerto Rico in the early 1990s with Luisito Carrión on vocals, Jorge Chaparro on keyboards, Luis "Wicho" Rodríguez on guitar, and Mario Santana on bass. Their 1993 single "Ese Pum Pata Pum" became an immediate hit, its catchy rhythm and socially aware lyrics connecting with listeners across the island.

Their debut album, also called "Cinemacinco," mixed merengue, salsa, and rock elements. They followed it with records like "La Parranda" and "El Descargazo," which kept their sound lively and danceable. Songs like "Baila Cariñito" and "Campesino" became staples at parties and carnivals.

While their theatrical performances and direct lyrics drew some criticism, the band's core lineup stayed together through their most active years. They built a reputation on Carrión's energetic delivery and a rhythm section that kept people moving.
