Wasted

There's something wrong with people

it's fundamentally

a power-hungry, sociopathic, maladjusted breed

a scene of massacre enfolds before our eyes

a mass-destruction of apocalyptic size

it's a neverending slaughter that controls our destiny

a mental disorder making us to blind to see

so why do we try to erase our own species

as if there's nothing better to do

we are just some other wasted primordial ooze

and so another acre of rainforest falls

along with it a thousand species are forever lost

we feed upon this planet with insatiable greed

not realising it's not wise to bite the hand that feeds

we own this place and we'll do as we please

'cause we are the masters of the universe

but actually, objectively

we are more like a disease

so here we are, the pinnacle of creation

we rule with dictatorial impunity

but why do we try to wipe out all species

we seem to be missing some screws

we are just some other wasted primordial ooze

insanity has caused a total loss of perspective

for we are all just dustpecks in this universal collective

the illusion of control we create within our minds

is just as insignificant as the fate of humankind

so let somebody else take over

we fucked up real good
