Claudinho Guimarães was a samba singer from Rio de Janeiro's Mangueira neighborhood. He started singing with the samba group Império Serrano in the early 1970s, performing at venues around the city.
In 1985, he released 'Mangueira É Uma Mãe,' a song about his home neighborhood that became widely known. He recorded other albums like 'Um Samba Pra Você' in 1988 and 'O Samba É Meu Dom' in 1992.
He died in 2000 at age 49. His band included musicians like Carlinhos 7 Cordas on guitar and Marquinhos China on cavaquinho.
