Clawfinger

Clawfinger formed in Stockholm in 1990, mixing metal with hip-hop elements at a time when that combination wasn't common. Their debut album 'Deaf Dumb Blind' came out in 1993, followed by records like 'Clawfinger' and 'Zeros & Heroes' that built a following. The band's lineup has included vocalist Zak Tell, guitarist Jocke Skoglund, bassist André Skoglund, and guitarist Pontus Norgren, who handled sampling.

Their songs often dealt with social and political themes, sometimes bluntly. The track 'Do What I Say' drew attention for its direct lyrics about hypocrisy. Another song, 'Nigger,' addressed racism directly, though its title made it a complicated piece to discuss. These weren't subtle protest songs; they were meant to provoke.

That friction seemed to suit their approach. They kept making records into the 2000s, including 'A Whole Lot of Nothing,' and songs like 'Two Sides' and 'Are You Man Enough?' maintained their aggressive, riff-driven style.
