Club Atlético Independiente formed in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires in 1995, taking their name from the local football club. The original lineup included Pato Fontanet on vocals, Diego Spettale and Sergio Beto Verdinelli on guitars, Elio Delgado on bass, and Daniel "Tanque" Isturiz on drums. Their debut album "Viva Los Muertos" came out in 1998.
Their song "Es Un Sentimiento, No Puedo Parar" became particularly associated with the football club's supporters. Other tracks like "Himno de Independiente" and "Yo Solo Quiero Que Llegue Ese Domingo" reflect that same connection to fan culture.
In 2003, drummer Daniel Isturiz died in a car accident. The band continued with Rodrigo "Chino" Moreno eventually joining on drums. Lead singer Pato Fontanet faced legal issues after being charged with inciting violence at a 2010 festival, resulting in a prison sentence.
They've released several albums including "El Campo de Todas Las Batallas" in 2005, "Dios Los Cria" in 2010, "Guerras Son Guerras" in 2013, and "Luz" in 2017.
