They put out three albums, starting with 'The Brink of Infinity' in 2005, which mixed alternative rock with electronic and ambient touches. Their sound shifted by the time they got to their third record, the self-titled 'Black Cards' in 2012, which leaned into a more stripped-down and introspective feel.
That album's title track, 'Black Cards,' became their most recognized song. The band's style, which never fit neatly into one genre, drew a loyal following but also some early resistance from critics who weren't sure what to make of them.
