C.O. Band formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1980, originally calling themselves Conexão Operacional. The group started with five members: Luciano Magrini on vocals, Luiz Carlos Maluly on bass, Lucinha Turnbull on keyboards and vocals, Nilo Sérgio on guitars, and Pedro Corrêa on drums. They put out their first album, 'C.O. Band I,' that same year.
Their biggest song came a few years later with 'É Proibido se Apaixonar!' from their 1984 album 'C.O. Band IV.' They kept recording through the 1980s, releasing albums like 'Toda Forma de Amor' in 1985 and 'Nação do Amor' in 1989.
