Coco Swing

Coco Swing formed in Cali, Colombia in the late 1990s, started by Jimmy Saa and Luis Eduardo Hernandez, who went by "Guajiro." Their first album came out in 2001, titled "Diganle" after the song that became their early hit. The track is a straightforward plea about lost love, built around salsa and cumbia rhythms.

Some of their material drew criticism, both for how they mixed traditional and modern sounds and for lyrics that took on social or political topics. Around that same period, former members sued the band over their dismissal, a legal fight that lasted several years before settling in 2013.

They kept recording through 2018, putting out albums like "La Locomotora" in 2002 and later ones that touched on merengue and bolero alongside their core salsa and cumbia. The group's output stayed rooted in those Afro-Caribbean rhythms, even as their subject matter sometimes ventured into more pointed territory.
