Cocoloco formed in 2012 in Salvador, Brazil, with Jean Reis on vocals, Lucas Costa on guitar, Marcelinho on bass, and Armandinho on drums. They started playing local bars and clubs, mixing samba, axé, and funk rhythms into their sound.
In 2016, they released "A Bundinha," a song that became a national hit in Brazil. The track's catchy melody and playful lyrics made it popular on radio and social media, though some listeners found its content too suggestive.
Lucas Costa left the band in 2017, leaving Jean Reis as the main vocalist. Cocoloco kept performing after that change.
