Cohl Mélanie is the French-Canadian duo of singer Mélanie Masson and guitarist Pierre-Luc Boivin. They started working together around 2005, building songs around acoustic guitar and Masson's voice. Their 2009 single 'Dis Oui' became their biggest hit, reaching the top 10 in France.
In 2011, they faced plagiarism accusations when their song 'Tout Pour Elle' was said to resemble a Quebec folk song. They kept releasing albums like 'Les Voix' in 2008, 'Un Jour' in 2012, and 'Lumière' in 2016, and toured in Europe and North America.
Masson and Boivin remain the core of the project, with Masson typically writing lyrics and Boivin handling music. They sometimes perform with additional musicians live.
