COIOTE! formed in Paris around 2000, with Marc Cerrone as the producer and founder. Their sound mixed world music, dance, and pop, anchored by the song "Opa! (part. PEDRIEL)," which became a widely played celebration track. The group included vocalist Dany Brillant and guitarist Olivier Dutertre.
Their debut album Solarium arrived in 2001, featuring "Opa!" as its standout. They followed with Coyote in 2002, which included songs like "Borracho" and "La Noche." Later albums like We Are the Future in 2004 leaned into electronic and world influences, and they released a compilation, The Best of Coyote, in 2008.
Early on, COIOTE! The band later acknowledged his contribution to the melody. They put out a reunion album, Forever, in 2012.
