Color Me Badd formed in Oklahoma City in 1985 with Bryan Abrams, Sam Watters, Mark Calderon, and Kevin Thornton. They signed with Giant Records in 1991 and released 'I Wanna Sex You Up,' which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their music and videos drew criticism from some conservative groups, and they got tangled in a lawsuit with a former manager. They kept putting out albums through the 1990s, including Time and Chance and Now & Forever.

They toured for years, sometimes with fewer members. In 2015, they released an album called Awakening.
