Compositor Dedé Ferreira

Compositor Dedé Ferreira came from Recife in northeastern Brazil, where he started writing songs early on. He put out his first album 'Forró Sem Limite' in the mid-1970s, which got some attention but didn't sell much. Ferreira kept at it, and his songs found an audience among people who felt overlooked.

One of his best-known tracks is 'Amigo Barbeiro Completa' from 1985, a ballad about a friend's betrayal that people still talk about. He also wrote 'Ela e a Viola' and 'Salário de Dublê,' songs that show his straightforward way with lyrics and melody. Ferreira's music drew from traditional Brazilian rhythms, but he had his own take on them.

He wasn't afraid to write about difficult subjects, which sometimes got him into trouble with critics. But that directness is what made his songs stick with listeners. Ferreira kept writing and recording for years, building a catalog that feels honest and unpolished in a good way.
