Comunidade Evangélica Renascer

Comunidade Evangélica Renascer, often called CER, is a Brazilian Christian music group connected to the evangelical church of the same name. The church was started by Estevam Hernandes in Rio de Janeiro during the 1980s. The band's music came out of that community, with songs meant to express faith through contemporary sounds.

Their 1998 album 'Vem Queimar Em Mim' shares its name with one of their better-known songs. That track became familiar in Christian settings in Brazil, with its direct appeal for spiritual renewal. The music tends toward pop and rock arrangements with earnest vocals, avoiding complex theology for more immediate emotional expression.

CER has had various musicians involved over time, including vocalists like Fernanda Brum and Soraya Moraes, along with instrumentalists such as Márcio Valadão on guitar. They put out several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, like 'Voz do Coração' in 1994 and 'Deus de Promessas' in 2000. The group's association with the Renascer church movement has sometimes drawn outside attention beyond their music.
