Coneb formed in Monterrey, Mexico in the early 1990s with Gilberto Marrón on vocals, Sergio Flores on keyboards, Esteban Herrera on bass, and Gustavo Sánchez on drums. They played small venues while working day jobs, trying to get noticed.
Their big break came in 1994 with the single "Porque Eres Tú," a romantic ballad that became a national hit in Mexico. Marrón's vocals carried the song's straightforward lyrics about devotion, and it connected with listeners enough to push their album of the same name past a million copies.
After that, they kept releasing albums like "Encadenados" in 1995 and "Sueños Rotos" in 1996, sticking to the ballad style that had worked for them. Marrón left the band in 2002.
