Conjunto Som Maior

Conjunto Som Maior formed in Goiânia in 1986, with five musicians coming together around Brazilian gospel music. They drew from local sounds like chorinho and samba, which gave their arrangements a familiar, rhythmic feel. Their song 'Quão Bondoso Amigo É Cristo' became one of their well-known pieces, typical of their straightforward, melodic approach.

Davi Sacer handled lead vocals and keyboards, while Marcos Witt contributed as a songwriter and vocalist. Fernandinho played guitar and sang, Edson Cordeiro was on bass and vocals, and Luther Rocha drummed and added harmonies. This lineup stayed consistent for a while, focusing on vocal harmonies and accessible instrumentation.

Their music sometimes blended gospel with more popular styles, which led to some pushback from certain religious groups at the time. They kept recording through the late 1980s and into the 1990s, putting out a series of albums that stuck to their core sound without major shifts.
