Copatti formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s as an alternative rock band with Leo Cavalcanti on vocals and guitar, Rafael Castro on bass, and Lucas Vasconcellos on drums. Their first album, 'Nada Além do Tempo,' came out in 2006. They put out a few more records over the next several years, including 'Fronteiras' in 2011.
That 2011 album had the song 'Metamorfose' on it, which became their most recognizable track. The band's sound shifted a bit after that, leaning into more experimental and electronic textures while keeping some of their earlier emotional weight. Not all their fans were on board with the change.
They kept releasing music through the 2010s, with albums like 'Ninguém Sabe' in 2014 and 'Identidade' in 2017. The lineup stayed consistent with those three core members.
