Copperlily

Copperlily was a band built around Evan Voytas on vocals and guitar, Amy X Neuburg on vocals and keyboards, and Stephen Marsh on bass. They released four albums between 1994 and 2002: 'Strands,' 'Ephemeron,' 'A Discord Elastic,' and 'The Pages.' Their sound mixed acoustic folk elements with electronic textures, avoiding straightforward genre labels.

Their song 'Fast And Slow' gives a fair sense of their approach, shifting between quiet, melodic sections and more rhythmic, pulsing arrangements. Other tracks like 'Broken World' and 'Color In You' followed a similar pattern, creating music that felt both intimate and slightly unsettled.

They weren't particularly interested in commercial formulas, which meant they operated mostly outside mainstream channels. What stuck with people who heard them was the particular atmosphere they built, both on record and during their live shows.
