Coquetel Acapulco formed in Mexico City in the mid-1990s. Their debut album 'Agente Doble' came out in 1999, but it was their second record that gave them their name. That album was called 'Campo Minado,' and its title track became their most recognizable song.
Armando Vega-Gil sang and played guitar, with Marco Renteria on bass and Chetes on drums. Their sound mixed rock with Latin rhythms, and later records like 'Quién es la Máscara' (2005) and 'En el Océano' (2010) brought in folk and jazz touches.
