Cornells Core formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1997, with André Gomes on vocals and guitar, César Rossini on guitar, Adriano Sousa on bass, and Rodrigo Silva on drums. They came together around a shared interest in grunge and alternative rock. Their 2002 album Outros Dias included the song Cansei de Não Te Ter, which became their most recognizable track.
That album also contained Outra Vez and Procurar Você. In 2004, there were some plagiarism claims about Cansei de Não Te Ter, but those were eventually dismissed. The band put out several more albums over the following years, including Última Estação in 2005 and A Verdade in 2016.
André Gomes has stayed with the group through lineup changes. The current members include Marcus Gomes on guitar, Pedro Albuquerque on bass, and Leonardo Martins on drums. They still perform live in Brazil and elsewhere.
