Cow Bees were a Brazilian trio with Lucas Arruda on vocals and guitar, Pedro Miranda on bass, and Thiago Fragoso on drums. They put out four albums between 2012 and 2018, starting with their debut 'Estrada' which gave them their biggest song. That track, along with others like 'Filomena' and 'Se o Mundo Não Acabar,' had a straightforward folk-rock feel that drew from MPB traditions without getting too fussy about it.
Their lyrics sometimes touched on social or political ground, which stirred up some debate at the time. In 2015 they dealt with a legal fight over song ownership with a former member, a dispute that settled in their favor but seemed to wear on the group. Their later albums, like 'Terra Firme' in 2014 and 'Caminho' in 2018, leaned into more introspective and varied territory.
They recorded a live set in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. By the end of the decade they had stopped putting out new music together.
