Archive material and source history

C.P.I formed in São Paulo in the late 1980s, with Claiton Fernandes on vocals and guitar, Paulo César on bass, and Ivanildo Gomes on drums. They called themselves Companhia Paulista de Imaginação. Their song 'Cascavel' became a breakout single that got them national attention.

They released albums regularly through the 1990s and 2000s, including 'Expresso 2222' in 1992 and 'Baleia Azul' in 1994. Other songs like 'cirrose' and 'Porta Retrato' show their mix of samba, rock, and reggae styles.

Claiton Fernandes died in 2001. After that, Paulo César and Ivanildo Gomes continued performing as C.P.I with different vocalists, releasing albums like 'Vida Colorida' in 2004 and 'O Som da Gente' in 2008.
