Crazy Diamonds

Crazy Diamonds formed in São Paulo in the early 1980s, drawing from classic rock and esoteric themes. Their name references Pink Floyd, and guitarist Marcio Missael wrote most of their poetic, often metaphysical lyrics. The band's sound was built around intricate guitar work, heavy bass from Guto Barros, and Marco Suzano's detailed drumming.

Their 1988 track 'Alquimia (pt. I)' helped define their approach, mixing rock with psychedelic touches. They followed it with 'Alquimia (pt. II)' and other songs like 'Mau Presságio' and 'Além Das Colinas, do Céu E do Mar' that explored similar territory. In 1993, they recorded with Brazilian musician Raul Seixas on the album 'O Eterno Retorno.'

Crazy Diamonds developed a dedicated following in Brazil, though their unconventional style sometimes drew criticism in a mainstream-focused scene. They kept recording into the 2000s, with 2002's 'Caminhos da Alma' marking a more introspective turn. The band's core trio of Missael, Barros, and Suzano remained consistent through their releases.
