Velvet Night

I was lying on the ground, looking at the sky, under the starlight

I fell asleep and climbed above the velvet night - I saw her dance on the fields of green

A girl dressed up in grief, like a pale autumn dawn

From that day on, I was drawn into her melancholic form

Just a tormented man, is all that I am

Death drenched in guilt for every early grave

Past hides the deeds that haunt my sleep

Yet she makes me see their vanity

I see, I hear / her voice will guide me away from pain

I feel, I fear / this dream won't last outside my head

Could this be the one I need, this weeping nightingale?

On these plains where heaven and earth meet

I am reaching higher, and hoping the sun never unveils

Its face behind the horizon where heaven and hell meet

So, morning came and with it passed the dream - and I found myself alone here again

In my private place, under stars and velvet night

Will I ever find her again? I am lost in the vastness of the world

And I am alone, seeking for a life worth living cause now

I'm just a leaf caught up in a gale

We are the same, you and I - we never could find things we looked for and now we fade

So long ago we accepted the truth that nothing would ever change
