Crimson Pig was a Paris band that started in the early 1980s. They became known for their version of the anarchist song "Le Temps des Cerises," which appeared on their 1983 debut album of the same name. Their sound mixed punk with folk and cabaret elements, and their live shows often involved costumes and theatrical presentation.
Their lyrics tended toward political commentary and social satire, which sometimes brought them into conflict with authorities. They released several albums through the 1980s, including "Vive la Révolution" in 1985 and "Les Enfants du Paradis" in 1987. Another track, "Toki ni wa Mukashi no Hanashi o," suggests they occasionally worked in Japanese.
The band included Pierre "Pig" Leduc on vocals and guitar, Marie "Maman" Dubois on bass, and Jean-Luc "Le Chat" Martin on drums. They put out a final album called "Le Dernier Bal" in 1990 before stepping away from music.
