Crocodiles started in San Diego in 2006 with Charles Rowell on vocals and guitar and Brandon Welchez on drums. Their first EP was called "Sleep Forever." They put out an album in 2009 called "Summer of Hate," which included the track "Groove is in the heart/California Girls." That song got some attention and also some legal questions about its relation to the Beach Boys' "California Girls."
Welchez left the band in 2012. Rowell brought in new players like guitarist Robin Tibbetts and bassist Lance Park. The group's third album, "Endless Flowers," came out in 2013. Later records included "Boys" in 2015 and "Dreamle." Other songs in their catalog include "Hearts of Love," "I Like It In The Dark," "I Wanna Kill," and "Jet Boy Jet Girl."
