In 2014, Glass publicly accused Kath of abuse and left the band. Kath denied the allegations and continued Crystal Castles with new vocalist Edith Frances. The group released "Amnesty (I)" in 2016 and "Phonographs" in 2022, exploring more atmospheric synth-pop territory while maintaining their experimental edge.
Their music has always balanced haunting vocals with distorted basslines, creating unsettling yet melodic electronic landscapes. Tracks like "All Right, Chill Out" and "Animals Like Me" show how they could shift between abrasive noise and more accessible synth-pop without losing their distinctive character.
