Crystal Places

Crystal Places formed in London with Poppy Ackroyd on vocals and songwriting, Nick Buxton on guitar, Aaron Neary on bass, and Simon Tong on drums. They put out their first album, 'The Great Nowhere,' in 2008, followed by 'The Night Palace' in 2010. Their sound drew from classical, ambient, electronic, and experimental music, which some listeners found too somber or unconventional for the mainstream.

Their track 'There Can Be Only One' became a standout, with its chorus about individuality connecting with fans. The band kept to their own vision rather than chasing commercial appeal, and their music developed a cult following among those drawn to its ethereal quality and introspective lyrics.
