C.S.O.M. started in Montreal in the late 1990s, with Alex Steed on vocals and guitar, Jake Powell on bass, and David Martin on drums. They put out an album called "The City of Sonic Metamorphosis" in 2002, which included the song "Bizarre Teenager." That track got some radio play and became a point of reference for them.
Their music mixed electronic, rock, and ambient sounds, and the lyrics often touched on alienation and mental health. Songs like "For Sale" and "I & I survive" carried that mood. Sarah Adams joined on keyboards around 2004.
They released a few more albums after that, including "Echoes of the Cybernetic Soul" in 2004 and "Psychedelic Signals" in 2010. The writing stayed abstract, as in the track "Não há uma saída pro intestino da sua cabeça."
