Cugini di Campagna

Cugini di Campagna formed in 1970 in Anagni, Italy, with brothers Silvano and Ivano Michetti joining Giorgio Brandi and Flavio Paulin. Their name translates to "Country Cousins," which gave them a folksy, approachable image from the start. They released their debut album "Un Giorno, Un Giorno" in 1972, but it was the 1973 single "Anima Mia" that really connected with listeners. That song's simple melody and direct lyrics made it an immediate hit in Italy.

After Paulin and Brandi left in 1976, the Michetti brothers kept the band going with new members. They continued recording through the late 1970s and 1980s, putting out songs like "Mister Paul" and "Solo Con Te" that maintained their melodic pop style. In 1994, they were involved in a copyright lawsuit regarding the melody from "Anima Mia" being used in a commercial, which they eventually won.

Their music stayed in that accessible Italian pop vein, mixing straightforward melodies with occasional folk touches. Songs like "64 Anni" and "A.a.. Ragazza Cercasi" kept appearing on Italian radio through the decades, maintaining their presence without dramatic reinventions.
