Cut The Shit

Cut the Shit formed in London in 1979 with vocalist Davey Jones, guitarist Pablo Robertson, bassist Frank Johnson, and drummer Marc Gordon. They came up in a punk scene that included bands like the Damned and the Sex Pistols, and their live shows were known for being explosive and confrontational.

Their debut album 'Apart' came out in 1980 and did well enough to establish them in the British punk movement. They followed it with 'The Real Me' in 1982 and 'Enemy Within' in 1983. Songs like 'Boston Cops' and 'Dead World' carried the kind of social commentary that got them attention, sometimes negative, from more conservative listeners.

Jones, Robertson, and Johnson stayed at the core through various lineup changes. Jones had a raw vocal style, Robertson played fiery guitar, and Johnson's bass lines were thunderous. Together they made a sound that felt potent and uncompromising for that time.
