Czarina formed in 2005 with members Amelia Arsenic, Ethan Blackwood, Samuel Nightshade, and Dominic Shadow. They came together after meeting at Berklee College of Music, where they shared an interest in creating music that didn't fit neatly into existing categories.
Their debut single "I Miss You" came out in 2007 and found an audience with its atmospheric sound and emotional delivery. The band followed it with an album called "Whispers of a Lost Soul" the next year, which continued in a similar vein with what some described as gothic and ethereal elements.
Czarina released several more albums over the next few years, including "Echoes of the Unseen" in 2010 and "The Shadow's Embrace" in 2012. Their 2014 album "Ashes to Ashes" showed them experimenting with ambient and electronic textures, moving away somewhat from their earlier sound.
