Czielo is an indie pop band from Los Angeles led by singer-songwriter Kate Cepero. Their music has a raw emotional quality that draws from artists like Fiona Apple and Cat Power, with Cepero's vocals often described as haunting or ethereal. The band's debut single "Eres Todo Para Mi" came out in 2007 and got regular radio play, helping establish their presence.
After that first single, Czielo released the album "Songs from the Lost and Found" in 2008. They went on hiatus around 2010 when Cepero was dealing with mental health issues, then regrouped in 2013. Since returning, they've put out two more albums: "The Waiting" in 2014 and "Spaces" in 2018.
The current lineup includes Kate Cepero on vocals and guitar, Jaime de la Peña on guitar, Jonathan Farias on bass, and Ryan Cavanagh on drums. Their sound tends toward atmospheric arrangements with introspective lyrics, though they haven't maintained the same level of visibility as during their initial breakthrough period.
