D-12

D-12 was a Detroit rap group that formed around Eminem in the late 1990s. The lineup included Proof, Bizarre, Kuniva, Kon Artis, Swift, Bugz, and Fuzz. They released two proper albums, 'Devil's Night' in 2001 and 'D12 World' in 2004.

Their biggest hit was 'Purple Pills,' a song about prescription drug abuse that became a radio staple despite its subject matter. Other tracks like 'Fight Music' and '40 Oz' followed a similar pattern of dark, confrontational lyrics delivered with a mix of technical skill and cartoonish aggression.

In 2006, Proof was shot and killed outside a Detroit nightclub. The group never really recovered from his death, though some members continued to work together sporadically. Their music, especially the early 2000s material, still surfaces in playlists and discussions about that era of Detroit hip-hop.
