D-Sailors were a San Francisco band that formed in 1982. Their debut album came out in 1985, anchored by the single "We Built This City (Starship)." That song, written by Bernie Taupin and Martin Page, became their signature track.
The original lineup included Terry Sylvester on vocals, Craig Chaquico on guitar, Pete Sears on keyboards, David Freiberg on bass, and Donny Baldwin on drums. By the mid-1980s, several of those members had left, with Chaquico remaining as the consistent figure through various lineup changes.
Their catalog includes songs like "1000 Of Stories," "Crank Up The Stereo," and "Dedicated To The Soap Stars." Chaquico died in 2018.
