D Shues came out of Jakarta in the early 2000s with a pop-punk sound that caught on quickly. Their single "Berakimi" became a hit, connecting with listeners through its straightforward melody and lyrics about unrequited love. The band was fronted by vocalist Ikmal Tobing, with Hedi Yunus on rhythm guitar, Ricky Pohan on bass, and Ade Firman Hakim on drums.
They released albums like "Menunggu Sebuah Jawaban" in 2004, "Takkan Pernah Kembali" in 2006, and "Lebih Baik Bersama" in 2008. Their music sometimes drew criticism for what some called vulgarity, and in 2005 they faced an accusation of plagiarizing a foreign song's melody, though it was later dismissed.
Ikmal Tobing dealt with addiction issues, and Ricky Pohan was diagnosed with cancer. These personal struggles tested the band's cohesion during their active years.
