D D Smash was a British band in the 1980s with Tony Mitchell on vocals and guitar, Andy Routley on bass, and Mark Langston on drums. They had some recognition with their debut single 'Outlook For Thursday,' which had a catchy melody. Their first album, 'The First and Last Album,' came out in 1988 and included songs like 'Me and My Baby' and 'Rough Justice.' They played at festivals and appeared on Top of the Pops.
Mitchell's outspoken style and their lyrics sometimes drew criticism, and their 1990 album 'The Party's Over' was noted for dark themes. Internal tensions grew, and D D Smash broke up in 1995. Mitchell went solo, while Routley and Langston started a band called Slammer.
