Archive material and source history
DA Band started in Oakland in the late 1990s, originally calling themselves Devoted Apostles. The group had five members: Darius Harrison, Freddy Washington, Marvin Isley, Randall Johnson, and Andrew McGee, each with their own nickname like Young Dee and Phreddy F.
Their 2000 single "Bad Boy This, Bad Boy That" got some attention, and they put out three albums between 2001 and 2006: Too Hot for TV, Down N Dirty, and Da Band 2. Other songs in their catalog include "Cheers To Me Mr. Bentley" and "Chopped Up."
They ran into some internal problems and lineup changes along the way, and their music sometimes drew criticism for being too explicit.
