Dabu Fantastic came out of Switzerland in the early 1990s with a mix of funk, hip-hop, and Swiss folk. Their hit "Frisch Usem Ei" was a playful, energetic track that caught on across the country.
The band's core members were vocalist Christoph "Fresco" Bürgin, rapper Nicolas "Nick" Hauser, and musician Michael "Roots" Gisler. They put out albums like "Dabu Fantastique" in 1993, "Dabu Fantastic 2" in 1995, and "Rümlige Rümlige" in 1998. Songs like "Lied" and "In Ornig" rounded out their catalog.
In 2001, Dabu Fantastic got tangled in a legal dispute with the Swiss music industry over unpaid royalties. The situation put some strain on the band.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
