Archive material and source history

Dado Polumenta started playing music in Split, Croatia, forming a band under his own name in 1983. Their first album, 'Mi smo mi,' came out in 1986. A couple of years later, his song 'Volim Te' became widely popular in the region. Other songs like '100 Stepeni' and '14 Godina' also found an audience.

He recorded with other Croatian musicians, including Oliver Dragojević and Hari Mata Hari. The band's lineup changed at times, but usually featured Mirko Pavlović on bass, Josip Vujić on drums, and Tonči Huljić on keyboards alongside Polumenta's vocals and guitar.

During the 1990s, the Croatian War of Independence interrupted the band's activity. After the war, Polumenta's political alignment with the HDZ party drew some criticism. He kept releasing music through that period, with albums like 'Nebo iznad nas' in 1992 and 'Dio mene' in 1995.

His songs, particularly the ballads, became fixtures at weddings and gatherings in Croatia. They have a plain, sentimental quality that people still play decades later.
