Dados Cargados formed in Madrid in the late 1970s, coming up through the city's countercultural scene. Their early years saw frequent lineup changes and financial difficulties, but they kept working on a sound that mixed punk, hard rock, and heavy metal.
In 1982 they put out their debut album, 'Maldito Rock and Roll (Un Lugar Donde Apostar).' The title track became their most recognizable song, a loud, straightforward rock anthem that connected with young listeners at the time. Fernando Márquez, known as 'El Zurdo,' handled vocals and guitar.
They kept releasing albums through the 1980s and into the 1990s, including 'Más Madera' in 1983 and 'El Regreso del Ángel Caído' in 1985.
