Archive material and source history
Dados e Status formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1983, with Dado Villa-Lobos on vocals and guitar, Ricardo Barreto on guitar, Leo Jaime on bass, and Marcelo Nova on drums. They played at Rock in Rio in 1985, which helped them get a deal with RCA Records. Their first album, 'Uns Dias a Mais,' came out in 1986 and had songs like 'O Futuro É Você' and 'Tão Bem.'
They put out more records over the next few years, including 'Agora' in 1987 and 'O Grande Circo Místico' in 1991. Some of their tracks, like 'Fim de tarde' and 'Pelo mundo,' became familiar to Brazilian rock listeners in the late '80s and early '90s. Dado Villa-Lobos left the band in 1988 to work on his own material.
