Daleka Obala

Daleka Obala formed in Belgrade around 2000, led by songwriter and vocalist Željko Joksimović. Their name translates to 'Distant Coast' in Serbian. The group's early material drew from traditional Balkan folk music, particularly the rhythms and melodies of Serbia and nearby regions.

Their debut album '14 Palmi' came out in 2002, with the title track becoming a hit. That song, along with others like 'Brod blues' and 'Crni vlak,' helped establish their sound, a mix of those regional folk elements with contemporary pop structures. The band's lineup has included Dragan Petrović on keyboards, Milan Nikolić on bass, and Aleksandar Sedlar on drums, with Miona Kostić joining on vocals in 2014.

They've released several albums since, including 'Dobro Došli' in 2004 and 'Reflektor' in 2013. While some listeners have questioned how commercial their later work became, they kept playing to audiences across the Balkans and parts of Europe. Their songs often deal with personal themes, set against those familiar Balkan rhythmic patterns.
