Archive material and source history
Dallas Frazier was born in Spiro, Oklahoma in 1939. He grew up hearing gospel music at home and country from his father, which shaped his approach to songwriting. In 1960 he moved to Nashville and signed with Capitol Records.
His song 'All I Have To Offer You Is Me' became a country standard, recorded by many artists. He wrote over 200 songs that were picked up by singers like Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. Other songs in his catalog include 'Alley Oop' and 'Been Rained On'.
Frazier had a brief hiatus from recording in the late 1960s after disagreements with his label. He returned in the 1970s and continued writing. He was eventually inducted into both the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
