Archive material and source history
Dallas Superstar formed in Dallas, Texas in 1975 with a lineup that included lead singer Laura Branigan, keyboardist Harold Faltermeyer, bassist J.D. Nicholas, drummer Art Woodley, and guitarist David Stone. They built a local following before releasing their debut single 'I Feel Love' in 1977, produced by Giorgio Moroder.
That song became a global hit with its pulsing bassline and Branigan's vocals, though some critics later questioned how much studio work shaped the final sound. Branigan left the band in 1979 to focus on her solo career, but Dallas Superstar kept recording and touring afterward.
