Damagewar came out of Stockholm's metal scene in the early 2000s. Their debut album was called 'The Black Code,' which is also the name of one of their songs. The band's sound pulled from death metal's aggression and thrash metal's melodic complexity.
They followed that first record with albums like 'Code Orange' in 2005, 'State of Emergency' in 2008, and 'The Final Reckoning' in 2012. Their lyrics often dealt with social injustice and political corruption.
The original lineup included vocalist Erik Andersson, guitarists Johan Forsell and Jonas Landgren, and drummer Peter Bengtsson. Andersson left the band in 2010. Despite lineup changes, they kept touring and putting out material.
