Damis Angelo is a Brazilian gospel ensemble led by vocalist Damis Angelo. The group formed in 2009 with guitarist Anderson Dutra, bassist Rafael Costa, and drummer Leandro Ferreira. They started playing local churches and small venues around Valadares, Brazil, where Damis grew up in a Pentecostal household.
Their 2011 single "É Ele" became their breakthrough, connecting with Brazilian Christian audiences. The song appears alongside other popular tracks like "Santo Deus," "Onipotente Deus," and "Maravilhosa Graça" in their catalog. Some religious conservatives criticized their music as too modern, but the band continued performing.
They've released albums including "Mais que Vencedores" in 2012, "Um Novo Tempo" in 2014, and "Tempo de Honrar" in 2016.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
