Danah formed in Jakarta in 1986 with vocalist Chrisye, keyboardist Adie MS, bassist Yockie Suryo Prayogo, and drummer Erwin Gutawa. They put out albums like 'Danah' in 1986, 'Perjalanan' in 1989, and 'Cinta Kita' in 1993.
Their song 'There Is Nothing Else Like Your Love' became a standard in Indonesian pop. Chrisye's voice and the band's arrangements gave their music a particular feel that connected with listeners.
Some of the members followed the Baha'i faith, which drew criticism in Indonesia at the time. Chrisye died from lung cancer in 2007.
